Frequently Asked Questions

Our vehicles can comfortably seat eight people and has a good capacity for luggage, golf clubs, etc.

Larger groups can also be catered for. Each Rustic Guide can drive up to a 16-seated minibus vehicle. This would entail hire of a different vehicle.
For larger groups we can arrange a coach and driver, and provide our service as simply tour guides for the day
Availability of a larger vehicle may be restricted in the summer time, so please leave plenty of time to arrange your tour with us

Our guides can pick you up and drop you off wherever you need. We can collect and return you from your hotel, B&B, airport or cruise port all over the Highlands of Scotland. Whatever your need we can accommodate it!
Due to our base in the beautiful North West coast of Scotland we can accommodate multi-day tours of 4 days or more from Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow or elsewhere in Scotland.

We are available to tour at any time of year, Scotland is a stunningly beautiful country all year round.
Each season has its own character visually but be aware that Scotland’s weather can be unforgiving at any time, so wrap up warm and wear suitable footwear.

Of course! Our guides have a lot of experience with families of all ages. In the UK it is a legal requirement for babies and young children to have safety seats on board the vehicle. We can provide these for your family, just let us know in advance. Remember to equip your child/children with suitable footwear and a warm jacket. Scotland's weather can be harsh any time of year!

Clothing - Scotland's weather can be changeable, so its best to be prepared for all-weathers. We would recommend light waterproof jacket, and some practical shoes or boots that are comfortable to walk in. Sometimes we walk on rough ground that is a bit damp under-foot. Of course bring your swimsuit and sunscreen too! ... seriously :)

The cost of your tour includes; Vehicle transportation, fuel and the services of your driver-guide. Cost of the tour does excludes; Accommodation - We can arrange this for you but payment would be made directly from you to accommodation provider. Meals - We can make recommendations and reservations based on local knowledge, from top restaurants to the best picnic spots. Where you eat and sleep are an important part of your experience and we want you to have the best! If any of your party has any allergies or intolerances, please let us know in advance and this can be catered for.

On all our tours the guiding is in English.

We can cater for everyone with all abilities. Its your tour so we can adapt your day as and when appropriate to meet your needs. Please contact us to discuss your individual needs.

No, we’re afraid not. However, we do know Scotland well, and will let you know in plenty of time when we are approaching the next available refreshment break!

Terms & Conditions

Cancellation of Tours

To secure your booking of a single day tour, we require full payment.
If you choose to cancel your day tour more than 6 weeks in advance, Rustic Tours will offer a full refund, minus £50 administration fee.
If you cancel your day tour within 6 weeks, refunds will be made as following:
• 4-6 weeks before tour start date - 75% refund minus £50 administration fee.
• 2-4 weeks before tour start date - 50% refund minus £50 administration fee.
• within 2 weeks of tour start date - No refund.
If you are unable to proceed with your tour, we would like to offer the opportunity to reschedule your Rustic Tour for another date. This is not guaranteed however and is subject to driver and vehicle availability.

To secure your booking of a multi-day tour, we require 25% deposit which is non-refundable.
We require full payment of the remaining balance within 6 weeks of your tour start date.
If payment is not made in full within 6 weeks of the tour start date, Rustic Tours reserves the right to cancel your tour with no refund offered.
If you choose to cancel your multi-day tour more than 6 weeks of the tour start date, Rustic Tours will offer a refund of any payments you have made, minus your 25% deposit.
If you choose to cancel your multi-day tour within 6 weeks of the tour start date, Rustic Tours will offer a refund as follows:
• 4-6 weeks of the tour start date - 75% refund of balance, minus £50 admin fee.
• 2-4 weeks of the tour start date - 50% refund of balance, minus £50 admin fee.
• within 2 weeks of tour start date - No refund.
If you are unable to proceed with your tour, we would like to offer the opportunity to reschedule your Rustic Tour for another date. This is not guaranteed however and is subject to driver and vehicle availability.

In exceptional circumstances, the managers of Rustic Tours reserve the right to cancel your tour. In such cases we will inform clients and a full refund will be given.

Other Terms and Conditions

Customers coming on tour with us should have adequate and appropriate insurance to cover against personal injury, medical expenses, death, repatriation expenses, loss or damage of luggage and contents, and expenses associated with cancellation or curtailment of tour.
In the event of client illness, then the relevant client must accept responsibility for any medical costs incurred and Discreet Scotland shall not be liable to refund any part of the tour cost. It is incumbent on each client to ensure that insurance cover held is both current and adequate for the particular needs of such client and/or group for which such client is responsible. All visitors from overseas must have insurance to cover accident and repatriation.

Customers/Passengers should follow safety directions of Tour Guide. Rustic Tours must be notified in advance of any passengers suffering from any medical condition or are taking medication which is likely to interfere with their ability to fully participate in the tour schedule. Clients whose fitness level or medical condition is not considered by Rustic Tours to be appropriate for certain activities may be asked to make alternative arrangements. In such cases compensation will not be offered by Rustic Tours.
Any physical activity including walking must be considered by each passenger accordingly with their own fitness level and ability. Rustic Tours accepts no responsibility for injury or death resulting from inappropriate activity.
All passengers should be aware that weather conditions in Scotland can vary across all seasons of the year. Appropriate clothing and equipment should be considered by customers when coming on a tour with Rustic Tours.
Rustic Tours reserves the right to terminate a tour if, in the reasonable opinion of the company the behaviour of a client or client group is or is likely to be disruptive, dangerous or upsetting to other people or if such client or group have caused or are likely to cause damage to property. Rustic Tours will not pay any refund or costs incurred by a client in the event that a tour is terminated due to unacceptable behaviour.

Whenever possible, clients (customers) should promptly bring a complaint to attention of the Guide/Company.
Clients wishing to lodge a complaint after the trip or tour should write to the company within 28 days of the tour end providing full details. The Company will endeavour to resolve such complaint in an amicable manner as expeditiously as possible.

We provide a private tour service which is exclusive to your group only. We do not add other groups to your tour, nor do we accept bookings for individuals joining together to make up numbers. Our tours are not designed for split groups and your booking may be cancelled if we suspect this is the case.
